Discraft Luna Review – A Quality Putt and Approach Disc?

Discraft-Luna-Review

Discraft Luna is a great disc and well worth the immense popularity it has. Welcome to our review where we’ll tell you all about it.

The Luna is a fantastic neutral flying putter that works well on both densely forested and open courses. This disc can take advantage of any angle or putting technique to show its best potential, thanks to its high-level controllability. It also has a very slight but very predictable fade.

The disc is made of a unique plastic blend of Jawbreaker and has the durability and added tackiness of rubber. The Jawbreaker is a popular fan favorite. Combining these two materials creates a great hands-on feel while providing users with absolute confidence on the course.

Discraft Luna can be used in different angles, and it holds its own throughout the entire flight, making it excellent for an-hyzer approach shots.

The Discraft Luna disc was manufactured by Discraft, which originated in London Ontario in 1978. A group of disc golf enthusiasts, Jim Kenner, Gail McColl,  Chris and Mary Greenwood, and Wallace Kenny started the Discraft.

Jim and Gail eventually moved to Michigan and started what is now Discraft Inc. The company does not have any retail stores. Instead, it sells in large quantities to resellers and wholesalers worldwide. Discraft also owns and produces discs and other game accessories for the Disc Golf Association (DGA).

This disc can show some resistant when thrown hard and straight but will also stay in line when put on. It’s also to cover a distance of 300ft when thrown into 8-10mph headwind also staying true to line.

Types of Plastics

Discraft Luna putter disc is manufactured using two materials, i.e., rubber and a unique plastic blend. The unique plastic blend is the favourite mix of rubber and Jawbreaker that gives extra durability. The materials blend to provide a comfortable feel for the Luna disc golf putter.

Discraft Luna Flight Ratings and Flight Pattern

The Luna is a versatile putter, and it has a good level of stability to hold just about any line. So you can rely on it to cut around corners or fly straight down a tunnel as long as you throw it at the correct angle and speed. The Discraft Luna has a flight speed rating of 3 and glide of 3 with a turn of 0 and fade of 3.

Luna is kind of touchy, but not in a bad way. Technically, with throwing putters, they will err on the side of being more understable. Hence, in the first couple of throws, the Luna will fade out if not thrown hard enough to get around your target.

The Discraft Luna has a decent distance potential in a field setting, but it wouldn’t be very appropriate for max distance field shorts. We believe it shows its strengths the most around obstacles because of its versatility and ability to adapt to most lines. The only time the disc will be turned over too much is when thrown harder than it needs to or thrown off its axis.
